Today is E's last field marching competition. I know they have worked hard but I am glad it's going to be over soon. I'm selfish that way. It is going to be a beautiful drive up toward St. Louis for the competition though.

My mommy is visiting this weekend. She is doing okay and we've had the chance to connect with our conversations. Her loneliness is weighing on her.

J is having a Halloween party next Friday. He decorated last night and there isn't a square inch in counter or table space in the house that is left bare. I'm feeling claustrophobic with the additional plants brought in from the cold.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

The Funniest and the Saddest Thing I've Seen Today.

One of my jobs is to babysit the third grade students at lunch time.
Today I witnessed a third grade boy unpack his lunch from home. It consisted of a gallon sized Ziploc that wasn't zipped filled with crunched up plain potato chips with chocolate sandwich cookies
intermingled. I THINK he had at least part of a pb and j but not a whole one -perhaps he ate the balance as he waited in line. I asked him if he had packed his own lunch and he beamed an affirmation.
Little kids are crazy funny.

Sad to the core. Working at every way I know how to relieve this but it persists. Been here before but on a slightly lower level. I know it will pass eventually.
I see my dad's childhood photo on my screen saver every time I sit. It encourages me to spend a minute thinking about something in his life and my life tangled with his. It brings such sadness but I don't want to forget. The down side is it promotes this sadness which saps my energy and silences me.

Peace to everyone.
