Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

This photo was taken at one of the marching festivals. Erin is second from the right of the shortest tuba, top row Jack is the rude Frenchman 5th from left, bottom row. Their show was music from the show Spam-A-Lot. I think I mentioned that a while back.
Tuba?? How on earth do you get that monstrous thing home to practice? And if you play Carnegie Hall, you'll have to take it on the airplane. Since I can't imagine checking such a valuable thing, and since it won't fit in the overhead, you'd probably have to buy a ticket for the tuba to have its own seat. Still. You must be proud.
WS, She doesn't play the tuba, she is two down from the tuba on the right. She plays trumpet and I am proud of her and J. He is quite the showman for an eighth grader. Funny you should mention a large venue and traveling. The band goes to NYC this summer (right after school is out) to play the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum while they visit the other touristy places. Alas, no airplane, only a tour bus which will still be a bummer for the tuba players.
