Ms. R's Rule of School
No matter what they might be doing- picking their nose, poking another kid, singing a song- a Kindergartner will immediately stop and join in the second you start counting.
Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. -Howard Thurman

good for them.
I'm glad to see you posting more!
Works on me as well.
only works if you got to your top number once and there was a consequence. But I love the snap to attention.
I do a big kick out of kids at school when I am not wanting to kick them instead. One of them wrote on the board in the gifted classroom "little kids are crazy" and I tend to believe it.
Gnome Thyself, is that you nataS? Or you iamnot?
Ha! I'll have to remember that one. Probably depends on how you count. When I count to three with my daughter...as in 1,2,3 you are in trouble now...she doesn't seem all that interested. :)
*smiles* I'll have to remember that for when I have my own kids! :)
Lisa- yup, it does. And that 1,2,3 never works for me either.
Miss Healthypants, put it to the test but wait until they are walking at least little white dry erase boards are always a hit for a kid to enjoy learning to write his numbers and letters.
Little kids are wonderful. they do want to please, they are just so self-centered. Counting works most of the time.
Thats the truth, Mom.
