Still Hangin' Out At Home

I would say I am a little stir crazy at this point. Still no school. But the melting began yesterday and will start up again as soon as the sun has cleared the trees. It is rather beautiful with icicles at least 10 inches long in some places. I'll get out and do some ice chopping on my driveway which is about 2 inches of smooth bone-breaking ice.

Happy Valentine's Day, people. I have managed to keep a huge bag of shrimp hidden for a loverly meal tonight for my kids. One of their favs is shrimp scampi. That's all. Nah, I'll fix something else...like spinach or haggis. Then I'll pitch a package of Reeses peanut butter hearts at them and the evening is complete.

Later, folks.

The perfect Valentine's day meal... Haggis?? Why not something less work, perhaps Welsh Rarebit or a nice Scotch Egg? Then again, there is always Spam (battered and fried). Reliving some of my dinners from school in England. ;-)

Hope you get de-iced soon...enjoy the shrimp scampi!

I was just saying I might fix something that offsets the love of shrimp scampi...
I think haggis or spinach would do the trick.
Mmm, love the scotch eggs and ris nice too. That's the kind of things we would fix for Sunday night munching.

Happy Valentines day greeny - hope the ice melts soon so you can get out and about. Nothing worse than enforced captivity, I should know after my stay at her majesty's pleasure... oops, said too much!

But...but...Haggis is a GOOD thing!

Where's the love for haggis, that's what I wanna know!

Now I'm wondering what I should make for the boys tonight.

Doh, I have not idea what I just wrote about Welsh rarebit. I meant to say I love it.

More chuckling, simon.
Hey, I just added you to my blog roll although I don't what's up with the spacing. It looked right on the page I was adding it to.

So Iamnot, you're saying haggis is ok with you?
Should I write a note to myself to send some to you for Scottish kilt wearer's Day? I think that's coming up.

Ugh ... snow. I am hating the stuff at the moment. The only saving thing is that my son does the shoveling. The snow here doesn't show any sign of leaving soon. Being cooped up inside kind of gets to one after awhile.

I bet you'll go with the shrimp (followed by pb hearts). Yup. No haggis for v. day...

You made me laugh, Greeny.

Oh, nataS, I hope you are doing ok. I see the signs you are lurking about.
As long as you comment occasionally, I can breath a sigh of relief.
Anne, I take spinach in any form or fashion I can get it in. I don't prefer it with vinegar, just a small pat of butter and sprinkle of salt and I'm good but I like it fine with vinegar.
And by the way, did your kids chastise you verbally for no candy?
Oh, Mom, haggis is a strange mixture of whatever the Scottish had lying around. They were perhaps drinking a dram or 12 at the time and came up with this recipe.
Hi, Kate. I am with you on the cold and snow. I would much prefer to be outside but with the squishiness of the ground it a big wallow out there. And yes, I was making the shrimp scampi and pasta but no haggis or even spinach- just a nice spring mix salad and some rolls. It was a hit.
Glad you stopped by.
Simon, you are a hit!
